Another usual weekend

Anna is off to the Smokies with her Girl Scout troop renting a really nice cabin and having normal teenager fun.  She promises to come back rested and ready for the week (ha-ha)

We were at a banquet by the TN Math Teacher's Association last night, Gabriel won an award for a perfect score on the Algebra II test (25 people got perfect scores on the same test, maybe too easy this year?). Anyway, he received a plaque and a check for $100, which he promptly deposited in the bank.

Marian was at a sleepover, and I am sure will come back tired.

Bogdan was offered the job he applied for at the Spallation Neutron Source, and will most likely take it, of course he would like to negotiate for more salary and vacation.  We'll see if that happens!

School at midterm already

Hard to believe that the kids are already at midterms for their classes.  It's been a busy month of school already.  Anna is not driving to school, as she must have all A's and B's for that privilege.  She needs work in English, but to her credit, her teacher is not great.  (It's her way or the highway.)  Oh well, I told her she will have bosses like that in life too.

Marian is heading to NC for a 4th grade class trip to a Cherokee site, this will be a big trip, leaving at 7am and getting home at 7pm.  They are all excited.

Gabriel is loving his classes, all except for Engineering Design and Pre-Calculus.  He managed to get the most boring teachers I have ever experienced.  In contrast, his English and Computer teachers are very engaging and he loves those classes.

Getting ready for the Fall play and doing costume measurements and combing through the current costumes we have.  Should be a fun year.

Bogdan applied and was interviewed for a new job at the Lab.  He is looking to join the team at the Spallation Neutron Source (read more about it at http://neutrons.ornl.gov/facilities/SNS/)  He should know soon about whether he got it.
