Cookies, cookies, cookies

That's about 1500 boxes of cookies in the van!  It wouldn't fit in my car, so I borrowed a van for the pickup.  Girl Scout Cookie time is always fun, a bit stressful, and always delicious.  Max, our German exchange student, has declared them yummy.

Birthdays, warm weather and more

Anna and I both had birthdays, can't believe still that Anna turned 18.  We celebrated with "The Lego Movie" (VERY FUNNY!!) and dinner at a Japanese Steak House, where they cook the food in front of you.

My birthday was a good day, busy with things for the theatre, but Marian ended my day with a personal spa treatment.  Since we just did a Spa Murder Mystery Party, she said her spa treatment would be murder free.

Spring Rowing starts today and I believe this will be Gabriel's last season rowing.  He has said there is an interest in doing something else.  Also, Max has started soccer practices and is busy after school with those.

Bogdan has been taking a 3D printing class lately, not for work, just for fun.  But, I am sure there are applications that he will be able to use at work sometime.

Lovely warm weather lately, it was 70 yesterday here and today an overcast mid-60's.

Yes it did snow

Marian measured 7 inches on our deck.  The kids are very excited about all the snow.  The teachers are grumbling about perhaps having to extend Wednesdays to full days.  The whole world is white and not a car is out.

Pictures to come...

Week in review

First, I got sick and then Anna got sick.  We are both better now.

Made a bunch of make ahead meals for the next month, which will get increasingly busier. Meals made: beef stew, beef and mushrooms, creamy ranch pork, BBQ spareribs, chicken teriyaki, broccoli chicken Alfredo, beef dip sandwiches, pineapple ham, and lime cilantro chicken. Should be a yummy month.

Anna was accepted to another college, so now we have (or she has) a decision to make.  It's now between Aquinas College and ETSU (East TN State Univ).

Hopefully, will file taxes tomorrow and get the FAFSA done, hoping for some scholarships!

Gabriel was accepted to Governors School, for computational physics. He will be there for most of June. He's very excited. He has also applied to Math Thesis for next year and should find out if he gets in soon. He would be doing work at ORNL if he gets in. This weekend he is snowboarding with the school.

Marian is excited for the murder mystery party coming up this Friday. She and her Girl Scout friends will do the "murder at the spa".

Watching the Olympics and glad I'm not there, heard too many crazy things going on there.

Hooray Seahawks and other news

We laughed so much during the Super Bowl as the Broncos were crushed by the Seahawks.  Could the Broncos have lost the ball more times?   They were playing a rookie game, as if they had bet on themselves to lose.  Seattle did a terrific job at humiliating the local hero Peyton Manning.  He is a legend here, having played for the beloved University of TN Vols.  So, it was good to see the sometimes cocky Peyton Manning put in his place. And a first for the Seahawks, a first win and a crushing one at that.

The boys' shower is being re-hauled, having sprung a leak that Bogdan cannot fix.  They boys will be happy to have it working and new.

Girl Scout cookie orders are coming in and it looks as if my troop will exceed 1300 boxes sold, down from last year, but still a valiant effort.  Our exchange student has not had Girl Scout cookies, so we are interested in seeing his reaction as he does a taste test when they arrive.
